Rhinoplasty
The nose’s framework of bone and cartilage is sculpted to
the desired slope. This is accomplished by repositioning the bones
in your nose, or building up certain areas using either nasal cartilage
or bones and cartilage from another body site or other materials.
The skin and soft tissue are then reshaped over the reshaped framework.
- Typical Desired Outcome:
- A balance between the nose and other facial features.
| Best Candidates: |
- The nose appears too large for the face.
- Patients with bumps or depressions on the nasal bridge.
- The nose appears too wide.
- The nasal tip drops.
- The nasal tip is thickened.
- The nostrils are excessively flared.
- The nose is off-centered or crooked.
- An asymmetrical nose caused by previous injury.
- Obstructed airway that impairs breathing.
|
| Typical Recovery
Timeframe: |
- Bandages/splint may be removed about 7 days after surgery.
- Sutures will be removed one week after surgery.
- Patient will return to light activity in one week.
