Breast implants are made of an outer soft shell filled with either:
    1. Saline (salt water) – Saline implants are available for all breast augmentation candidates.
    2. Silicone Gel – Only women involved in FDA-Approved studies for breast reconstruction are eligible for silicone gel filled implants.
Variations of Saline Filled Breast Implants:
    1. Smooth Surfaced – Smooth implants are less easily felt through the breast skin and therefore more natural feeling.
    2. Textured – Textured implants were created to help decrease capsular contracture or scar tissue formation around the implant.
    3. Anatomical – Anatomical implants are shaped longer vertically than horizontally. The surface is textured and is more costly.
Factors Determining Implant Size:
    1. Current breast size and volume.
    2. Breast skin mass.
    3. Breast skin elasticity.
    4. Patient height, weight and chest diameter.
