Breast Augmentation/Augmentation Mammoplasty
Augmentation mammoplasty is performed by placing implants beneath the breast, either above or beneath the pectoralis muscle. Augmentation mammoplasty is most commonly performed under general anesthesia and generally takes between 60 and 90 minutes to perform.

Typical Desired Outcomes:
    1. Increase size or shape of breast to gain proportion with entire body.
    2. Regain “perkiness” for more youthful appearance.
    3. Regain breast size after pregnancy.
Best Candidates:
    1. Good physical health of any age.
    2. Good emotional health and reasonable expectations.
    3. A desired increase of one to two sizes (i.e. From A cup to C cup).
Incision Options for Augmentation Mammoplasty:
    1. Inframammary – Underneath the breast.
    2. Transaxillary – In the armpit.
    3. Periareolar – Around the nipple.
Typical Recovery Timeframe:
    1. Patient will wear a foam tape bra for two days to help maintain implant placement and reduce swelling.
    2. Suture removal occurs after five to seven days.
    3. Patient will return to normal activity in 7 to 10 days.
